In one weeks\u2019 time, the Peter-McGill Neighbourhood Life Committee will be hosting a Caf\u00e9 Discussion with City Councilor Cathy Wong and MNA Jennifer Maccarone. The event will be open for the public as a way for the council to present their new \u2018<\/span>Forgotten Lot to Green Spot\u2019 <\/span><\/i>project to both the residents of Peter-McGill and the elected officials. In January this project was submitted to the city of Montreal\u2019s <\/span>Budget Participatif <\/span><\/i>in the hopes of being selected to obtain funding, voting on this and other community proposed projects will occur in June of this year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

The \u2018<\/span>Forgotten Lot to Green Spot\u2019 <\/span><\/i>initiative seeks to transform many of the neighborhood\u2019s vacant parking lots into diverse green spaces which can be used for a variety of activities such as urban gardening and community events. The benefits of additional greenery are extensive, ranging from reducing urban heat to better mental well-being and physical health. The committee’s goal is to make the benefits of green space as accessible as possible especially for marginalized communities and those with mobility challenges.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The Caf\u00e9 Discussion will be held on March 3rd from 5 pm – 6 pm, it will include a short presentation of the proposed project, the general topic of urban greenspace, and a Q&A session with members of the committe Cathy Wong, and Jennifer Maccarone. To ensure that this new initiative is as inclusive as possible, any and all residents of the neighborhood are welcome to attend and share their opinions\/concerns.
